The islands of San Pablo and San Pedro lie in Southern Leyte, fronting the horizon of Hinunangan's shoreline. The local government says that the town, while resting just beside the Pacific Ocean, was spared from storm surges during the recent typhoon Yolanda because these two islands blocked the strong winds. The faithful, however say that it were St. Peter and St. Paul who protected them. That formidable tandem could be working for the people in other ways.
GOALS:
The primary objective of this cooperative is to help improve the quality of life of its members and the furtherance thereto shall aim to:

Provide optimum social and economic benefits to its members;

-
Propagate cooperative practices and new ideas in business and management.
-
Allow the lower income and less privileged groups to increase their ownership in the wealth of the nation;

To actively support the government, other cooperatives and people oriented organizations, both local and foreign, in promoting cooperatives as a practical means towards sustainable socio-economic development under a truly just and democratic society.

To adopt such other plans as may help foster the welfare of the members, their families and the community.
SPPMPC plays always one of the major sponsors whenever there is a huge activity or event in Hinunangan. That's how generous the said coop is!
SPPMPC helped a lot of people, groups, associations not just the community of Hinunangan, but also in the neighboring towns.
Like on February 17, 2006 when the entire village of Guinsaugon in St. Bernard, Southern Leyte was buried after a portion of a nearby mountain collapsed (mudslide) SPPMPC officers and staff went their to extend help not just by giving money, groceries and clothing, but also visited the poor victims in the hospital, trying to give them a feeling of hope and strengthen their faith.
As SPPMPC was founded by a Scarborough Father Rev. Fr. Frederick Wakeham, SFM its vision actually was to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people in Hinunangan. A coop which has the heart to serve with gladness and love to the community for the glory of God!
