ISRAEL ANACTA
SPPMPC SCHOLAR
I am Israel s. Anacta, 33 years of age. Im presently residing in Decahomes Subdivision in Minglanilla, Cebu. Im married to a Cebuana and loving together in our owned townhouse in 6 years. In my 20 years of stay in Hinunangan, I live in a very simple life with my family in Poblacion, Hinunangan, Southern Leyte. My parents raised our family in a small business( fish vending) earning very small income in relation to the size of my family of seven members. Our house was very simple and partially dilapidated. My parents find it hard to send us to school specially in private high schools. Due to financial constraints, my mother told me to apply for a scholarship program sponsored by SPPMC last April 1996 and I was 13 years old. I was informed that all applicants will undergo a panel interview with the BOD as the panel headed by former Manager Engr. Virgie A. Kuizon. I was a little bit terrified because it was my first hand experience sitting in the middle of adult individuals answering questions thrown towards me. Despite of that feeling, still I was able to manage and answer their questions politely. Alas! I was accepted and was very thankful of the result
I enrolled in Holy Rosary Academy in June 1996 as a second batch SPPMC scholar. Being a scholar, I enjoyed opportunities to which some of my school mates don’t. I don’t need to fall in line at the cashier’s office to pay monthly payments because my tuition is fully paid already. I have all the books and receive monthly allowances.
I was a little bit afraid in my first transaction inside the office. Thinking that I will be facing the manager and SPPMC staffs which for me sounds strict. But I was definitely wrong. Indeed the management as well as the staff was very accommodating. They treated as well and guide us when we are confused on what to do next.
When the new manager – Mrs Efifania Edicto holds her office, all scholars are given a chance to experience a part time job . Indeed it was a very nice experience because we’re trained to work the way regular employees did. Our services was equaled with a compensation which will be added in our monthly allowance.
Through their support, I graduated with honors and award both in academic and special awards. My scholarship doesn’t end in my high school because they continued my scholarship in my college studies. I finished my course in Southern Leyte State University-Tomas Opppus taking Bachelor in Secondary Education and graduated in 2005.
Since my course is not related to the offices in SPPMC, I decided to land for a job matching my finished course in Cebu teaching in private high school and public school respectively. I never regret that I chose education as my course because it helps me mold children and build a stable married life. Truly SPPMC plays a vital role in my career. I couldn’t imagine how hard my life would be if SPPMC never invested for my education. Forever I will be grateful to SPPMC and the management as well.
